Sunrise Cruising on the Yellow Water in Kakadu National Park, NT

An early start to reach the yellow waters in time for the sunrise. Cold rising off the water as we boarded our boat. But none of that mattered. An ethereal white mist floated above the billabong as we departed on our Yellow Water Cruise, creating a magical canvas of colour and light.

Then, as the sun rose above the horizon and the mist cleared, we were rewarded with mirror images of light and shade reflecting on the water.

Yellow Water is home to hundreds of species of bird-life and we were lucky to see many of them; spotted egrets, jabiru, comb crested jacanas, white breasted sea eagles and whistling ducks.

Absolutely stunning. Photo’s could never do this place justice, how it feels, and makes you feel being there is otherworldly.

Our guides were passionate, knowledgeable and funny with their commentary, and why wouldn’t you be, if this is your office?

Birdlife was abundant, but let us not forget, those other creatures of the water and wetlands . . .
